Coastal living is the best — but salt air, humidity, and seasonal storms add extra wear. In Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and surrounding areas, these conditions can impact roofing, HVAC performance, and exterior finishes faster than inland homes. A simple March routine protects both comfort and resale value.

Start inside: change HVAC filters, test smoke/CO detectors, check under sinks for slow leaks, and ensure bathroom fans vent properly. Moisture control is crucial in Coastal Virginia and Coastal NC as humidity climbs.

Outside, focus on water management and durability. Clear gutters and downspouts, check caulking around windows/doors, inspect shingles, and look for early wood rot on decks and trim. Near-water homes should monitor corrosion around exterior hardware.
